TEENS ENCOURAGING LITERACY SINCE 1987

Because It's fun!

Because  program costs are minimal

It works

It works

Because  kids know what interests other kids.

It works

The Teens for literacy program was started by Dr. Allen Berger in 1987at Miami University in Ohio. Teens for Literacy is registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  The program encourages inner-city students to actively promote literacy in their own school or community.

Teams of four or five students at each school design and participate directly in activities such as tutoring, reading aloud, reading contests, video taping, creating displays, writing and performing plays, and forming bookclubs.

These activities are carried out under the direction of dedicated teachers and University liaisons.
